It's November

Well, now that it's November and I'm over halfway through my European adventure, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to take a look back at some of the more comical moments so far.
  1. What's my name? I told my teacher it was David Benedict- Benedict like the Pope ("come il Papa"). Unfortunately, she wrote David Come il Papa for my name. My other, more fluent, Italian teachers couldn't stop laughing.
  2. A "friend" (Luca!) told me to introduce myself as a "scambista" (an exchange student). Unfortunately, that slang term is interpreted differently outside of Bocconi. It literally means a "swinger" or one who "exchanges" wives. Oops.
  3. 4am on the sidewalk outside the closed Valladolid Airport in Spain. Tired, cold, and in the middle of nowhere, I couldn't help but laugh- especially when Andrew started to wrap jeans around his head to stay warm.
  4. The train from Glasgow to Manchester on Halloween night. You know it's going to be interesting when you sit next to a drunk Scotsman. He downed bottles of wine and tried to get a smoke at every stop. Don't even get him started on his opinion of England ("let me tell you, I really really f-ing hate this place"). When a bunch of English Halloween revelers got on board the party really started!
  5. The hardest part about one of my midterms was finding my classroom. I ended up visiting 3 different buildings before I found my class (in the correct language). 45 minutes to take the midterm? No problem
With only 7 weeks left, I have a lot to do. Here's what's coming up-
  1. New blog posts. I'm a little behind. Sorry.
  2. Italy, Europe, and the World. Four consecutive weekend trips.
  3. Dinners and Luncheons. The Italians are great cooks, but even better hosts!
  4. College Fairs. I'm representing Emory at two local high school fairs.
  5. And, if there's time, some studying.
Ci Vediamo!
